Leaning into Discomfort: Reflections After Releasing The Self-Love Revival

Hey friends, it’s been a hot minute.
If you follow me on social media, you’ve seen that life has been full. The outpouring of love and support for my newly released book, The Self-Love Revival, has been nothing short of humbling. I’ve received so many messages of congratulations, excitement over the content, and even invitations to speak in group settings. What a joy and privilege this season has been.
While I’ve been celebrating the completion of what once felt like a never-ending assignment—a deeply personal journey between me and the Lord—I’ve also been navigating the tension that comes with visibility. It's been stretching. Putting something so raw, honest, and sacred into the world comes with a wave of vulnerability. Yet, even in that, I see God's hand.
I am incredibly proud—not just of the book—but of the work the Lord has done in me over these past few years. The healing, the stretching, the refining, and the community He’s surrounded me with. I’m reminded that “being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus” (Philippians 1:6, NIV).
Still, following the Holy Spirit into new and unfamiliar territory is rarely comfortable. I’ve had to confront the parts of myself that prefer safety over stretching. But in this process, I’ve learned to embrace the discomfort as a sign of growth.
I speak in my book about the nervous system and how we train it to build capacity. In the same way, the Lord trains our spirit and flesh to build capacity for obedience and trust. As Romans 12:2 reminds us, “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” The renewal comes with some resistance, but it’s through this tension that transformation happens.
We’re all on different paths in our walk with Christ. What stretches me may be easy for you, and vice versa. Our unique histories, gifts, and faith journeys shape how we experience God’s call. But the goal for all of us is the same: “to go from glory to glory” (2 Corinthians 3:18) and from “faith to faith” (Romans 1:17).
This exciting season of completion has also been a season of deep learning. I’ve learned that growth often disguises itself as discomfort. But I’d rather be stretched in obedience than stuck in disobedience. I’d rather move forward in faith than remain anchored by fear.

In her powerful Netflix special, Brene Brown says, “There is no courage without vulnerability.” And honestly, isn’t that the essence of faith? As Hebrews 11:1 says, “Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.” Real growth requires risk. It requires stepping out before everything makes sense.
I’ve come to terms with the fact that this book won’t be for everyone. And that’s okay. It was never meant to be for everyone. It was written in obedience, birthed in prayer, and shaped through my own breakthroughs. I trust the Lord to place it in the hands of those who need it most.
So is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it” (Isaiah 55:11).
So today, I want to gently challenge you: where are you feeling the nudge of the Holy Spirit? Is there a small act of obedience—however uncomfortable—that He’s inviting you to step into? Maybe it’s signing up for a new group, writing your own story, going to therapy, starting a business, or reaching out to someone for prayer. Whatever it is, lean in. Because baby steps of faith add up, and what was once a source of struggle can become a testimony of healing. The Lord honours faith—even mustard-seed-sized faith (Matthew 17:20).
I’ve seen Him do it in me. I’ve seen Him show up on the days when I stared at a blank screen, unsure of what to write. I’ve seen Him meet me in times of fasting and prayer when revelation seemed just out of reach. I’ve seen Him hold me through the discomfort of counselling, inner healing, and building new community. And now, looking back, I stand in awe.
“Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us” (Ephesians 3:20).
He has written this story far better than I ever could have.
